We bring together students from diverse backgrounds who share an interest in Islam, community building, and personal growth during their time in Wageningen.

Our Values are:

Inspired by Islam

As a Muslim Student Association, we are inspired by Islam, an Abrahamic monotheistic faith centered on the belief in one God, Allah (SWT), and in Muhammad (PBUH) as His final messenger. Islam teaches a complete way of life grounded in faith, worship, compassion, justice, and community.

Islam is built upon five fundamental pillars:

  1. Shahada (Declaration of Faith)
Bearing witness that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad (PBUH) is His messenger.

  2. Salat (Prayer)
Performing the five daily prayers, which nurture discipline, mindfulness, and a direct connection with Allah.

  3. Sawm (Fasting during Ramadan)
Observing the fast during the blessed month of Ramadan, fostering self-restraint, gratitude, and empathy for those in need.

  4. Zakat (Charitable Giving)
Giving a prescribed portion of one’s wealth to support the less fortunate and promote social equity.

  5. Hajj (Pilgrimage)
Undertaking the pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in a lifetime for those who are able, symbolizing unity and submission to Allah.

The teachings of Islam are preserved in the holy Qur'an and in the Sunnah (traditions and teachings) of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Together, they provide spiritual guidance, moral principles, and a framework for personal and communal life.

Through these foundations, we strive to embody the values of faith, service, integrity, and unity in our campus and beyond.

Named after Avicenna

Our name is inspired by Ibn Sina (Avicenna), one of the greatest scholars of the Islamic Golden Age and a pioneer of science and medicine. His legacy reflects the harmony between religion and research, reminding us that striving for academic excellence and being a proud Muslim go hand in hand.

At MSA Avicenna, we celebrate curiosity, learning, and contribution across all disciplines.
