On 18 August 2026, Avicenna Wageningen took part in the annual introduction days of Wageningen University & Research (WUR), joining the Info Market at the Arboretum from 13:00 to 16:00. With a small but energetic team, plenty of enthusiasm, and a little help from the Dutch weather, we managed to turn our stand into a welcoming place for students and visitors.
The end-of-study-year picnic of 2025/2026 turned into a memorable evening for the men of Avicenna. With sunny weather, temperatures reaching around 28°C, plenty of pizza and drinks, and a competitive game of UNO, the event provided a perfect opportunity to relax after a busy academic year.
Life moves quickly. Between studies, work, responsibilities, and the constant flow of information around us, it is easy to lose sight of what truly nourishes the heart. We often know what is right, yet we forget to pause and reflect on it.
In January 2025, Avicenna Wageningen established a dedicated PhD subgroup for Muslim PhD candidates at Wageningen University & Research (WUR).
Every Ramadan, Avicenna Wageningen organizes two large community Iftars to bring students and the wider community together in a spirit of connection, reflection, and sharing.
At Avicenna Wageningen, we celebrate the two major Islamic holidays Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha together as a community. These occasions are some of the most meaningful moments in our association, where students come together to reflect, connect, and enjoy each other’s company.

As a student association, we organize several lectures and knowledge-sharing events throughout the year, covering topics that are relevant, thought-provoking, and connected to our students’ backgrounds and interests.

One of the many things that makes Wageningen University & Research special is its beautiful green campus. Surrounded by nature, Wageningen is the perfect place to take a break from daily life and enjoy the outdoors. The city is home to the stunning Arboretum and is located just a short distance from the breathtaking Hoge Veluwe National Park, offering countless opportunities to relax and connect with nature.
University life is about more than lectures and assignments. It's also about building meaningful friendships and finding a supportive community. At Avicenna Wageningen, we organize a men-only gathering every two months to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood among the male members of our association.
Fasting on Mondays is a beautiful Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) that offers Muslims an opportunity to grow spiritually and earn the pleasure of Allah.
In Surah Al-Muzzammil (73:4), Allah (SWT) says:
Every year, Wageningen University & Research (WUR) organizes the Annual Introduction Days (AID), welcoming new students to campus life. The majority of incoming students participate in this week of activities, which will take place from 14–19 August 2026.
