A Sunny Picnic to Celebrate the End of the Study Year
The end-of-study-year picnic of 2025/2026 turned into a memorable evening for the men of Avicenna. With sunny weather, temperatures reaching around 28°C, plenty of pizza and drinks, and a competitive game of UNO, the event provided a perfect opportunity to relax after a busy academic year.
The event began when the Separation and Purification Researcher created a poll in the general group to find the most suitable date. After the votes were counted, 10 July was selected as the official picnic date.
A registration form was then created. As is often the case with Avicenna events, the number of female participants was approximately twice the number of male participants. The Separation and Purification Researcher therefore took the lead in planning the event.
The plan was relatively simple: collect picnic mats, order pizza, and buy drinks.
Getting Everything Ready
To make sure the drinks arrived on time, the Primary School Teacher was asked to collect them from Hoogvliet and transport them to the event before the prayer. The picnic was scheduled to begin at around 17:00.
The chosen location was the beautiful Arboretum in Wageningen. The timing was not entirely straightforward, however, as most students had an exam until approximately 16:30.
After the prayer, the Separation and Purification Researcher, the Turkish Chef, and the Gazan Bicycle Rider agreed to travel from Wageningen Campus to the Arboretum at around 16:00.
However, a small planning mistake created an unexpected adventure. The pizza had been ordered too early. As a result, the Gazan Bicycle Rider and the Turkish Chef had to hurry to the Arboretum to receive the delivery.
At around 16:45, they were waiting in front of the Arboretum for the pizza delivery driver, while the sisters had already started arriving. The sisters were given the important task of choosing a nice location for the picnic.
At approximately 17:00, the pizza finally arrived. Shortly afterwards, the Primary School Teacher arrived by car with the cooled drinks. The group then made its way to the selected picnic spot.
Pizza, Drinks and UNO
As usual, the men and women sat separately. At the beginning, there were four men: the Turkish Chef, the Gazan Bicycle Rider, the Separation and Purification Researcher, and the Primary School Teacher.
They started the evening with pizza and cold drinks, enjoying the sunny weather and the relaxed atmosphere.
Around 18:00, the fun increased significantly when the group started playing UNO. What began as a casual game quickly became a lively competition filled with laughter, jokes, and plenty of teasing.
Around 18:30, the Moroccan Chess Master and Nowadays Marriage Consultant joined the group. They were followed by the Indonesian Cameraman and the Spanish-Moroccan President.
With more people joining, the evening became even more entertaining. The men continued playing UNO, talking about the defeat of Morocco by France, and teasing one another about various topics. The atmosphere was relaxed, humorous, and full of friendship.
An Evening That Passed Quickly
Time seemed to fly by. Between the UNO games, conversations, jokes, and discussions, the evening passed surprisingly quickly.
At around 20:00, the men began collecting the picnic materials and preparing to leave the Arboretum. Although the event had lasted only a few hours, it had been an enjoyable way to celebrate the end of another academic year.
The 2025/2026 end-of-study-year picnic was a successful evening filled with good food, beautiful weather, friendship, and plenty of fun. From the early pizza delivery to the competitive UNO games, it was certainly an evening that the men of Avicenna will remember.
