Cultural Night at Avicenna Wageningen: A Celebration of Diversity

Published on 28 June 2026 at 13:15

At Avicenna Wageningen, we regularly organize Cultural Nights to celebrate and appreciate the diversity within our community. These events are an important part of our mission to bring students together, learn from one another, and build meaningful connections beyond cultural boundaries.

🌍 African Cultural Night

One of our recent Cultural Nights focused on African culture and cuisine. Within Avicenna, we are proud to have members from more than ten African countries, which made this evening especially rich and vibrant.

Students from countries such as Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Somalia, Sudan, Eritrea, Tanzania, South Africa, Senegal, Gabon, Nigeria, and Niger came together to share traditional dishes from their cultures. It was a beautiful opportunity to experience the diversity and richness of African cuisine, prepared and presented by our own members.

To make the evening even more interactive and educational, we also organized a Kahoot quiz featuring questions about these countries, their cultures, and traditions. This added a fun and engaging way for participants to learn more about the diversity within Africa.

🇳🇱 Dutch Cultural Night

In addition to celebrating international cultures, we also organized a Dutch Cultural Night. During this event, we aimed to introduce aspects of Dutch culture to our international students.

Through food, traditions, and shared experiences, participants gained a deeper understanding of Dutch customs and everyday life. It was a valuable moment of cultural exchange, where both Dutch and international students learned from each other.
