In Surah Al-Muzzammil (73:4), Allah (SWT) says:
أَوْ زِدْ عَلَيْهِ وَرَتِّلِ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ تَرْتِيلًا
"Or a little more—and recite the Quran in a measured and proper manner."
This verse emphasizes the importance of reciting the Quran with care, precision, and beauty. Allah (SWT) commands believers to make an effort to recite the Quran in a measured way, paying attention to its proper pronunciation and articulation. From this guidance emerged the science of Tajweed.
Linguistically, Tajweed means to excel, perfect, enhance, or improve. In Islamic terminology, Tajweed refers to reciting the Quran exactly as it was recited by our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), giving every letter its proper rights and characteristics.
Inspired by the importance of Tajweed, Avicenna has been offering Tajweed lessons during Ramadan since 2022. Alhamdulillah, these lessons have continued to improve and develop each year, helping participants strengthen their Quranic recitation skills.
The program consists of a series of four lessons covering the following topics:
Lesson 1
Introduction to Tajweed and The Rules of Noon As-Sakinah and Tanween
Lesson 2
The Rules of Meem As-Sakinah and Lam As-Sakinah
Lesson 3
Al-Mudood (Rules of Elongation)
Lesson 4
Al-Qalqalah and the Rules of Full and Empty Mouth Letters
We warmly welcome you to join our Tajweed lessons during the next Ramadan, in sha' Allah. Whether you are a beginner or looking to refine your recitation, these lessons provide an excellent opportunity to deepen your connection with the Quran and improve your recitation according to the rules of Tajweed.
